Ebola Outbreak: UN Warns Violence Hinders Ebola Response in Eastern DRC


The United Nations has issued a dire warning regarding the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which has now evolved into a “catastrophic collision of disease and conflict.” First confirmed in May 2026, this 17th outbreak—caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain—is spreading rapidly through the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu.
